Open call for applications: Salzburg Global LGBT Forum The Many Faces of LGBT Inclusion

Chiang Rai, Thailand, October 2 to 7, 2016

Salzburg Global Seminar and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) invites international leaders from diverse fields – including human rights activists, artists, legal specialists, and others to apply for the 2016 Salzburg Global LGBT Forum.

The Forum will take place in Chiang Rai, Thailand, from October 2 to 7, 2016. Building on the Forum's and UNDP's global expertise, the Forum will provide a platform for enhancing Asia's underrepresented role in global LGBT dialogues. The 2016 Global LGBT Forum will focus on The Many Faces of LGBT Inclusion, exploring different but interconnected issues:
  1. Family: Identifying specific challenges LGBT communities face regarding family rights, social inclusion and legal challenges both in the region and globally.
  2. Storytelling: Cooperating with and magnifying the work of writers, filmmakers and photographers who portray the complexities of LGBT experiences across the globe.
  3. Strengthening connections between LGBT Human Rights Groups, government agencies, international organizations, embassies, and private sector supporters
  4. Focusing on progress made and continuing legal challenges of transgender communities
The goals of the October 2016 Global LGBT Forum in Thailand are to:
  • Explore regional and global challenges and how they intertwine
  • Enable LGBT rights activists to present their specific contexts and best practices
