| | DEADLINE: JUNE 30, 2016 Open call for applications: Salzburg Global LGBT Forum The Many Faces of LGBT Inclusion Chiang Rai, Thailand, October 2 to 7, 2016 | | Salzburg Global Seminar and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) invites international leaders from diverse fields – including human rights activists, artists, legal specialists, and others to apply for the 2016 Salzburg Global LGBT Forum. The Forum will take place in Chiang Rai, Thailand, from October 2 to 7, 2016. Building on the Forum's and UNDP's global expertise, the Forum will provide a platform for enhancing Asia's underrepresented role in global LGBT dialogues. The 2016 Global LGBT Forum will focus on The Many Faces of LGBT Inclusion, exploring different but interconnected issues: Family: Identifying specific challenges LGBT communities face regarding family rights, social inclusion and legal challenges both in the region and globally. Storytelling: Cooperating with and magnifying the work of writers, filmmakers and photographers who portray the complexities of LGBT experiences across the globe. Strengthening connections between LGBT Human Rights Groups, government agencies, international organizations, embassies, and private sector supporters Focusing on progress made and continuing legal challenges of transgender communities The goals of the October 2016 Global LGBT Forum in Thailand are to: Explore regional and global challenges and how they intertwine Enable LGBT rights activists to present their specific contexts and best practices Reinforce innovative approaches for cross-border and transnational exchange Explore storytelling as a critical means to achieve social impact Promote the concept of "family" as being inclusive to the LGBT community Develop action plans for specific regional and national contexts How to Apply Participant Profile The 2016 Global LGBT Forum will include a globally representative group of participants including: activists, community leaders and emerging young voices; Artists, filmmakers, social media experts, photographers and writers; Judges, lawyers and law makers; and Representatives from human rights organizations, LGBT cultural and political organizations, and religious groups. Application Requirements To qualify for the program applicants should: Show interest in creating social change through global and regional exchange; Exhibit passion, enthusiasm, and leadership potential; Be open to engage with and respect cultural differences within such a global Forum; Commit time and energy to sustain the Salzburg Global LGBT Forum and its network; and Have a good command of spoken and written English. Application Process All applicants must register their application via the Salzburg Global Seminar website: my.salzburgglobal.org/register-login The application should include a CV and personal statement of the applicants' assessment of how they could contribute to the session and if they are able to cover the costs of their participation. The fee does not cover travel costs. Limited scholarships are available. Deadline The deadline for applications is June 30, 2016. Please include only the information outlined above.
